Did some candid shots now and then with my panasonic before Christmas just to catch the lightings. Only got to bring my canon for last night's shot at ION, but didnt bring my tripod :( Anyway, I think it was still good enough for this year.
The lights inside the tree at ION was an awesome sight, hope you ppl didnt miss it.
Happy viewing and a blessed New Year to all!

My Trip to Ipoh

It was the longest coach ride I ever had but since I can weather it to Ipoh, then my next destination will be Penang, which is just another 2 hours' ride away :)
Set off at 930pm from Golden Mile at beach road, went by Grassland coach. Managed to catch sleep on the way...but I can easily sleep anywhere...ha ha ha

Arrived in Ipoh about 5am, my friend's dad came to pick us up. couldnt get back to sleep so had a long chat with my friend, Venice. Then we took a morning walk round the neighbourhood. Friend's dad drove us to the park and gunung lang. then had a big breakfast....my first ipoh food....ipoh prawn noodles, chay kway teow and wanton noodles....all very delicious! Next stop was to run some errands with my friend then to the most famous kaya puff shop. we were lucky...the newly baked tray just came out and we got our share of the puffs. That was very yummy too! Lunch was at a very good Ipoh hor fun shop, nice popiah and bean sprouts. Ipoh has got very nice bean sprouts and seems they said it because of the mountain water. the hor fun is slick smooth! then was the popular soya bean stall...very smooth beancurd which just slips down your throat. after that they sent me to my hotel...Casuarina for my 2 nights stay on my own. It was a new experience for me to be all alone in a foreign land!

Was so tired out so had a good nap and then went down to the cafe for chinese fried rice which was quite good plus teh tarik. then managed to book a nice "cab" driver for my next day's itinery. Not cheap leh....I paid a total of RM200 for 5 hours going out out of town, but I think it's still a great experience and felt safer with a driver who is recommended by the hotel. the so-called "limousine" service....was not quite a limousine..ha ha ha. But at least my guide was a nice old man who knows the places well and very helpful.

Had a good breakfast at the hotel then set out on my adventure. At least I felt safe enough to carry my DSLR around with the uncle along with me. First stop was the haunted castle....Kellie's Castle. Just a castle in ruins and redone up to be a place of interest. Next was my tiring climb of Gua Tempurung. I nealy fainted after all the climbing of 700 steps..and that's only level one of the 4 levels of tour available. It was more tiring cos the cave was rather stuffy and hot. I think caves are not as interesting lah. anyway, since caves is their popular spot, I must at least know what they ar like! Next stop was Gua Kelotong, that's just a small cave. I think I'd enough of caves for my trip.

Shopping time! Uncle driver brought me to some popular places to buy local products, had the best freshly baked xiang bing baked in traditional way, can really tell the difference in freshness as compared to all those I've bought before in JB or elsewhere. then he brought me to town to get more kaya puff....unfortunately was not as lucky cos all the puffs were sold out and had to wait for next batch which is 2 hours later :( but the driver said he'll help me buy when he goes down town later in the afternoon, that was very nice of him, and he got it for me!
then he brought me to buy chay kway teow...this was very nice. the prawns are really good! Then I had my 2nd round of the soya bean stall.

Went back for a nap and then went to Ipoh parade for my evening shopping. No time to go round whole place cos got stuck in Parkson as I had a great time shopping cos quite a number of clothings on 50% off!!!! hee hee.
Had Kenny rogers meal for dinner then uncle came to pick me back to hotel. Was able to stay till 830 there since had a familiar person to pick me, otherwise I'd planned to go back to hotel by 7pm.

Next morning had hotel's breakfast again. These 2 days lousy skies so no sunrise to take though my window was facing the sunrise. Packed up my stuff....my luggage had doubled! ha ha ha. Dih came to pick me then we went for lunch with Venice and alexis who had arrived from singapore that morning. Another round of char kway teow. Also had their popular crispy roast pork....so crispy till nearly broke my tooth! ha ha ha. This stall is must queue one!

Evening was checking into Regency for the pre-wedding night. Then met up with the rest of the "gang".....Sharon from KL came with her entire "clan" and Michelle also just arrived from KL. Had a good round of yummy chicken rice, hor fun, bean sprouts, hor fun......all so nice, then went shopping for local products again.
Back in the hotel.....more friends arrived from all over the place....Queenie from Mersing joined us. plus another 2 couples. Didnt get to have a good sleep cos slept past midnight and yet have to get up by 630am......continue....next blog...on the wedding.
