Visit to SBG on 7 Jun 2011

It was a nice morning after all the rain the past few days. Brought my nephew and niece for a short visit to the SBG and National Orchid Garden. They are having a school holiday special whereby all students are admitted for free together with their accompanying adult.

It was my niece's first visit to the main garden. We spotted lots of interesting things as you can see in the slideshow. The Coolhouse in the orchid garden was a refreshing place after the long hot walk. The kids enjoyed their little outing and said they wanted to go again.

It's certainly a cheap and educational visit for a holiday visit!

NDP 2010

NDP is my favourite time of the year for taking fireworks. This year I had the chance to take one of the rehearsal from Swissotel Stamford during the CR2. It was indeed nice and from a different perspective. Would be nice to do it again next year!

The second shoot was during CR3 along Marina Boulevard. This is a side view of the fireworks, but it turned out fine too as I get to see and overall view of all the fireworks fired from various points.

the 3rd shoot, I was at the Pinnacle@Duxton in the early evening to shoot the fly over of the planes, choppers, and jets and then rushed over to Marina Boulevard for the rehearsal day. There were slightly more fireworks than the previous 2 weeks.

THE day came....and I had to injured my knee ligament : ( Was on MC for a week and fortunately was blessed with better movement by Sunday evening. Monday came and my friend offered to pick me for the show....as I wouldn't want to get out there on my hurt knee as the distance to walk is quite far plus lugging along my equipment.
The whole population seems to be segregated at the Marina Bay! Gosh! And it was so nice and not so crowded the last few weeks. I didn't even manage to get near the frontline! Anyway, had decided to try out the defocussing method which I learnt from one of Flickr members and wanted to try out many times...but always ending taking up the standard landscape shot. So this time armed with my 100mm macro, that forces me to take the closeups. But I also learnt another lesson, for such closeup shots, I need a really stable and good tripod to get the job done! hee hee....not my shaky FOC tripod! Ok ok.....must budget to get a tripod next time!
The effects turned out quite interesting despite the shake...ha ha ha...So hope you enjoy them too!

Morning walk to SBG 29-5-2010

The morning walk to SBG was really rewarding this time. Besides the many dragonflies I found, the sunlight streaming through the trees was a great bonus and awesome sight. I also realised that you can only see it at a certain distance and angle cos as you walk closer, the beams seems to disappear.
But it's strange that not many people seems aware of the beauty of it or rather didnt notice it cos only myself and another photographer seems to have noticed it : )

Christmas 2009

Did some candid shots now and then with my panasonic before Christmas just to catch the lightings. Only got to bring my canon for last night's shot at ION, but didnt bring my tripod :( Anyway, I think it was still good enough for this year.
The lights inside the tree at ION was an awesome sight, hope you ppl didnt miss it.
Happy viewing and a blessed New Year to all!

This was held yesterday at Cheng San CC. My friend approached me to take part as his colleague was the organiser. Well, it'll be a great way to create awareness of washi dolls crafts. Did 2 demos during the event and had an interesting day. Not very crowded but there were some interested people. glad to have the help of my friends during the fair to make my day more interesteing.
